CLASS scores huge win for future transfer students
The University of Houston College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) has received a $378,000 grant from Greater Texas Foundation to launch the innovative CLASS 2+2 Program, designed to create seamless pathways for community college students to earn bachelor's degrees. The program partners with Houston Guided Pathways to Success (GPS) institutions, guaranteeing transfer admission for students who complete associate degrees at participating regional colleges. With less than half of transfer students typically completing their bachelor's degrees, this pilot program focuses on improving graduation rates while reducing costs and enhancing student belonging. Set to launch in the 2025-26 academic year, the program will serve dozens of humanities and social sciences degrees across 14 academic departments, strengthening the transfer pipeline and preparing graduates for the Texas workforce.
