Student Orientation Leader Role: 

Student Orientation Leaders play an integral role in the success of all orientation programming by providing new students and their families with a transformational Orientation experience and transition to the University of Houston.  
 
The Student Orientation Leader position is a premier leadership and service role, not just a job. As a Student Orientation Leader, you have a chance to impact the next generation of University of Houston students and their families. This role requires a deep, intrinsic motivation to help us fulfill our mission. 

As a Student Orientation Leader, you will be able to: 

  • Help incoming Coogs build connections to their peers and affinity to the University of Houston  
  • Ease the transition of these incoming Coogs’ family members and supporters by providing your anecdotal experience and sharing campus resources 
  • Assist New Student Programs with executing orientation in all aspects including preparation and logistics  
  • Develop as a leader and sharpen professional skills  
  • Become part of a community and form meaningful relationships 

Qualifications:  

  • Must be a current University of Houston student graduating after summer 2025   
  • Must be in good academic standing and student conduct standing with the University of Houston.   
  • Must have and maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA.   
  • ⁠If planning on registering for Summer 2025 classes, the classes must be asynchronous to accommodate work schedule 
  • Cannot be employed with another UH department or office on-campus during Summer 2025 
  • Must be able to participate in the weekly, mandatory team training every Friday in Spring 2025 starting January 31 – April 25(see application for details) 
  • Must be able to participate in an overnight, off-campus spring team retreat from February 28 – March 2 (costs covered by New Student Programs)   
  • Must be able to participate in all summer orientation dates - weekdays from May 28 – August 8 (excluding Memorial Day, Emancipation Day, and July 1 - July 8)
