Carol Cooper joined the Honors College in fall 2019. She teaches the Human Situation course and, since fall 2025, is the faculty leader of Team Omega. She also teaches courses in political theory and political science for the Phronēsis minor and for the Department of Political Science, where she has taught since 2017. Before coming to UH, she spent many years teaching and working in Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Cooper received her master’s and doctoral degrees in politics from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where she specialized in political theory and international relations. Her doctoral research focused on the moral and political theories of Immanuel Kant and other modern contract theorists. Currently, Cooper’s research focuses on political community and human dignity, political theology, and the intersection of politics and religion from ancient to modern times. She presents and publishes her scholarship nationally and internationally and regularly mentors undergraduate research in political theory and the humanities.
