University of Houston football fans were greeted with a welcome surprise at the Cougars’ season opener: the return of the UH Campus Store’s on-site location at TDECU Stadium.
Located next to What It Do BBQ on Cullen Boulevard, the stadium store had a brief run during the final two games of the 2024 season. Now, it’s back for the entire 2025 football season—a long-awaited moment for Timothy Jackson, market leader for the UH System.
“I remember coming here when I was a student, and after I graduated,” Jackson said. “So, it’s nice to have that space where people can buy merchandise before they get into the stadium.”
Before the reopening, merchandise was sold from a trailer, which limited inventory and space. The new setup allows for a broader selection of Cougar gear, though it also requires more preparation.
While the merchandise mirrors what’s offered at the student Center Campus Store, the stadium location places a stronger emphasis on football-related items. Due to popular demand, fans will also find a dedicated section for UH basketball gear.
“It was a little surprising, but at the same time not,” said Natalie Silvia, UH Campus Store manager. “We know our basketball team is so loved, and people attending football games are likely to attend basketball games too—so they want to be ready.”
Among the shoppers were UH alumni Robert and Amy Perez, who were excited to see the store open again. As season ticket holders, they appreciated the convenience—and joked about the potential impact on their wallets.
“It’s very convenient,” said Amy. “It makes it much easier.”
Robert added, “We’ll definitely be stopping by before each game to see what’s new.”
Convenience is a key part of the stadium store’s mission. Jackson emphasized that it offers access to fans who may not visit the Student Center Campus Store.
“Anybody living on campus or attending UH has the Campus Store,” he said. “But for other people, this is their best resource.”
The stadium store will be open for every home football game, beginning an hour before tailgating starts—typically four hours before kickoff.
