Register Your Bicycle or Scooter at UH This Fall

bike registration

As a student at the University of Houston, you’ve probably noticed the growing number of bicycles and electric scooters zipping around campus this semester. With their popularity on the rise, it’s more important than ever to register your bicycle or scooter with the university.

1. Theft Prevention & Recovery
Registering your bike or scooter helps protect it from theft. If it’s ever stolen, the UH Police Department can use your registration details and sticker ID to help recover it. This simple step can make a big difference in getting your property back.

2. Campus Safety & Organization
Knowing how many bikes and scooters are on campus helps UH plan for better parking and keep walkways clear. Registration supports a safer, more organized environment for everyone.

3. Access to Secure Parking
Registered bikes can use UH’s high-security Bikeep stations, located at Butler Plaza and University Lofts. These smart racks offer secure locking and are accessible through the UH Go app, giving you peace of mind while you’re in class or on campus.

4. Community Responsibility
Registering your ride shows you care about the UH community. It’s quick, easy, and free—and it helps promote a culture of safety and respect across campus.

How to Register Your Bicycle/Scooter

Visit the UH Parking and Transportation website to complete your registration. You’ll receive a sticker to place on your bike or scooter, making it easier to identify and protect.

Biketober & Scootober Events

Parking & Transportation will have two bike and scooter focused events to encourage bicycle and scooter registration.

October 14 at Butler Plaza, the department will be handing out candy to anyone who arrives by bike or scooter, along with safety kits as our “treats.” These kits will include reflectors, lights, and bells to help keep our riders safe and seen.

In late October, the department will host a Halloween Ride Around Campus. The department invites everyone to dress up and join them for a festive ride around campus. To add to the fun, Parking and Transportation will be awarding $25 in Shasta Bucks to two riders with the funniest, scariest, or most creative costumes.
