New Teacher Academy+ and teachHOUSTON recently hosted a dynamic three-day professional development conference designed to support new educators as they begin their teaching careers. The event brought together 70 attendees from across the Greater Houston area, all early-career secondary teachers in mathematics, science or computer science.
Throughout the conference, participants engaged in interactive sessions on key topics including classroom management, inquiry-based lesson planning, the effective use of educational technology, and the development of content-rich instructional strategies.
teachHOUSTON alumni returned for another exciting summer of learning and collaboration, while STEM-Lead Master Teacher Fellows delivered high-quality, impactful sessions tailored to the needs of beginning educators.
The event also featured hands-on workshops that applied the Engineering Design Process, giving teachers practical tools to integrate engineering principles and inquiry-based learning into their classrooms.
New Teacher Academy+ and teachHOUSTON’s shared commitment to community, mentorship and lifelong learning continues to strengthen Houston’s STEM education ecosystem. Their work directly supports regional and national efforts to retain and develop high-quality STEM teachers who can meet the growing demands of today’s classrooms.
The next New Teacher Academy+ Conference is scheduled for summer 2026, continuing the tradition of empowering educators to lead with confidence and creativity in STEM education.
