The Future Greek Leaders Academy (FGLA) brought together 50 emerging fraternity and sorority leaders for a day of learning, reflection, and community building on February 28, 2025. Designed for new members initiated between Fall 2023 and Fall 2024, FGLA offered an exciting opportunity for students to strengthen their leadership skills, deepen their understanding of values-based living, and forge lasting connections within the Greek community.
Throughout the day, participants took part in thought-provoking conversations around the importance of living their organization's ritual, upholding their values, and contributing to the growth and success of the broader fraternity and sorority community. Interactive activities and small-group discussions encouraged attendees to reflect on their leadership potential and explore ways to make a lasting impact within their chapters.
The energy, enthusiasm, and engagement shown by everyone in attendance were truly inspiring. From insightful conversations to meaningful connections, this experience served as a catalyst for future leadership in the fraternity and sorority community.
“As a new executive member on my board, I felt as if FGLA was rewarding and added a new foundation and perspective to the kind of leader I want to be for my organization.” says Jennifer Reyes of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Incorporated.
“Future Greek Leaders Academy is an interactive educational leadership opportunity for new chapter members,” said Cassandra Joseph, director of the center for fraternity and sorority life. “Students can connect and glean knowledge from colleagues and partners within the Division who serve as group facilitators. It warms my heart to be able to see our new members from all the councils come together to learn and grow in their sorority & fraternity experience. I cannot wait to see all the amazing initiatives they will develop and lead during their fraternal journey.”
FGLA is just the beginning of these leaders' journeys. We are excited to watch them apply what they’ve learned to strengthen their chapters, elevate the Greek experience, and shape the future of our campus community.
Stay tuned for more leadership development opportunities and ways to get involved!
